St. Ignace Summer Bucket List

Are you ready for a summer adventure in St. Ignace? We have put together our summer Kickin' MI Bucket List from St. Ignace. Let's Go!

St. Ignace Bucket List

  • Lighthouse Selfie

For this one, we decided to take our paddleboards out for a bit of a different perspective of Wawatam Lighthouse for a lighthouse selfie. The water around the lighthouse was flat calm and clear, which led to a great paddle and a view of the lighthouse.

  • Visit St. Anthony's Rock

This limestone sea stack formation is located right in downtown St. Ignace and is a similar formation to one we will talk about later, Castle Rock. This is an easy stop for a cool feature.

  • Dinner with a View

St. Ignace is located right on the water so there are many places to make this possible. For this one, we decided to have dinner at Jose's Cantina on the patio overlooking Lake Huron/Straits of Mackinac. Drive through St. Ignace and pick a spot based on what you are feeling like eating!

  • Swim in Lake Huron and Lake Michigan

A unique part of St. Ignace is that it has access to Lake Huron and Lake Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac. Head east for Lake Huron and head west for Lake Michigan!

  • Hit the Trails

Whether you want to hike, bike, walk or ride ATV's, there are many trail options in the area. This time, we went out on an ATV. You can also hike along the North Country Trail in St. Ignace, a trail that crosses through 8 states.

  • Explore Brevoort Lake

This 4,200+ acre inland lake is located west of St. Ignace. We grew up going to this lake and there is so much to explore. An interesting thing about this lakes' name is that you can find it spelled Brevoort and Brevort. Either one works for us!

  • Bridge View Lunch

There are a lot of good places in St. Ignace to take in the view of the bridge. We like to grab food and head to one of those spots. This time we went to Bridge View Park after grabbing food from Clyde's. We have also done this with Lehto's Pasties, a must stop in the area! Choose your favorite takeout option and go!

  • Climb Castle Rock

This iconic rock formation sits on the side of I-75 and welcomes everyone to the Upper Peninsula. There are amazing views from the top which include St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, the Mackinac Bridge and endless forest. You can also snap a photo of Paul Bunyan as a bonus.

  • Photograph the Mighty Mac

One of our favorite things to do in St. Ignace is to take photos of the Mackinac Bridge. There are multiple spots within Straits State Park with great views, including one that looks directly down the bridge that we like to visit every season. We have also went over the bridge in an airplane and under the bridge to get views from all angles.
