A Week Full of Adventure in Michigan's Great Outdoors
Snowboards. Check. Fat bikes. Check. Snowshoes. Check. Snowmobiles. Well, we don't have our own but we had a plan, so, check!
We were ready to get out for some winter fun and we started by heading to Caberfae in Cadillac for a day of snowboarding. The conditions were great after recent snowfall in the area. As a new addition to Caberfae this season is Arlo's Deck, which we made sure to check out. Check out the full video here!
Next up on our agenda was heading to Ludington to ride our fat bikes. We started the day at Cartier Park, located close to downtown Ludington. We always enjoy finding biking and hiking trails close to downtown areas. It made grabbing a coffee easy before heading out to ride to Big Sable Lighthouse. If you haven't been to Big Sable Lighthouse, you can either walk or bike out to it (or take your paddleboards like we did in the summer!). It was a great ride with amazing winter views. Next up was a day of snowmobiling in Manistee County. We have a lot of our own gear, but one thing we don't have is snowmobiles. We connected with Crystal Adventures for their rentals. They provided us with maps and direction on some of the best places to check out. The day snowmobiling was extra special based on snow during the prior 24 hours in the area! With over 500 miles of snowmobile trails in Northern Michigan, your opportunities for riding are endless.
To finish off our trip, we headed to Benzie County to go snowshoeing. We ended up going to a trail that we had never been to, Old Indian Trail, located on the border of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This looped trail give you the opportunity to stop off and take the path down to Lake Michigan. It is also set up for a great cross country skiing option as well!
