Summer Adventures in Ludington

"This water looks like the Caribbean." That was said by us on  multiple occasions during our time in Ludington. As you may know, we are big fans of being on the water so when we were planning our trip to Ludington, we knew we needed to have an epic adventure on the water. We decided that if the conditions were right, we were going to start off by paddleboarding from Ludington State Park to Big Sable Point Lighthouse. We got to the beach, and while there was a small breeze, we were good to go. We inflated our boards and geared up for what was an amazing paddle. We made a stop half way through to enjoy endless beach to ourselves before arriving at the lighthouse. At that point, the conditions were perfect to float in front of the lighthouse and capture photos from a perspective that is not seen as often.

We are often asked about our inflatable paddleboards and if we prefer them to hard boards. They both have their benefits but this is a perfect situation where inflatables have an edge. We deflated our boards and packed them up to take the trail pack to the park for more exploring by land. We spent the next few hours hiking and continuing to improve at our newest hobby, fly fishing.

After spending the day at Ludington State Park, we headed to Ludington Bay Brewing for beers and pizza on the patio. We needed to recharge before what looked to be a perfect sunset in the near future. We were right, the sunset was amazing!

On day two we needed to start the day off with coffee. We are always looking for great local coffee spots everywhere we go so we went to Red Rooster Coffee. While we were there, we realized we had run into the barista 3 times in the past 12 hours so we talked about what we had planned for the day and she gave us some great local spots to check out.

After enjoying a coffee we explored downtown Ludington, Waterfront Park, Walked the pier to Ludington Breakwater Lighthouse, checked out Stearns Park Beach and had lunch on the rooftop patio at The Blu Moon.

We then checked out the spot that our barista told us about. Check out this view!

Great video of my favorite place. Thank you for making this video. I’ve hiked to Sable but not SUPed, adding that to the bucket list. ❤️
