Powder Day at Mount Bohemia

Making a trip to Mount Bohemia is the highlight of many people from Michigan and the Midwest who are looking to experience something that cant be replicated in the region. While the average snowfall in the area is over 270 inches, some people be lucky enough to spend a weekend in the area just as Lake Superior lake effect snow dumps fresh powder for days. That was the experience for mi playground Brand Ambassadors Jordan and Dave earlier this month.

For Jordan and Dave, the trip across the UP is nothing short of 5 hours. While there was known snow in the forecast, they made it to Houghton for an annual stop at Keweenaw Brewing Company, a must-stop while in the area. They then continued to their destination at the Aqua Log Cabins.

The first day at the mountain was Friday, which was a great day, but just a precursor on what was to come. A full day of riding was followed by getting familiar with the new outdoor 30 person hot tub, the largest in the UP (probably by a lot!). As Jordan and Dave were taking over the mi playground Snapchat account (www.snapchat.com/add/mi_playground), the snow was flying as the hot tub was the place to be on Friday night.

Saturday morning comes and to their surprise, 14 inches of fresh powder overnight. If you have visited Bohemia, you know that the conditions are excellent on most days. This day was different. It was almost as if the late night hot tub session turned into a dream. Up early and ready to go with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning, there was a full day of riding with endless fresh runs. As exhausting as a day like this is, Jordan and Dave made the most of it by riding as much as possible, along with a few breaks to refuel. The energy at the mountain seemed high as was seen on videos posted from the buses bringing riders back to the lift.

One of the best parts about a day at Mount Bohemia besides the snow, the views. It is worth stopping and taking few minutes to look around at what this place has to offer. Jordan and Dave are always great at documenting their adventures so you can get a feel for what they are experiencing.

This was a trip that Jordan and Dave will always remember. It was not the first time that they experienced Mount Bohemia and it wont be the last, but as of now, it was the best. On top of the all of the great riding, they even got to stay an extra night in Houghton and spend more time at Keweenaw Brewing as flat tire added to the trip, but it didn't sound like anyone was complaining!
