Views from the Sunrise Side in Oscoda, Michigan

Oscoda, Michigan. The sunrise side. We have made multiple visits to Oscoda recently. One major thing we did both times we hike along the amazing Highbanks Trail but each time we stayed right downtown Oscoda and set our alarms to witness the amazing sunrises that happen over Lake Huron. 

Oscoda Beach Park has a very unique pedestrian pier that extends into Lake Huron. This makes for a great spot to catch a sunrise and is also different from many piers in Michigan that serve as a breakwater at the mouth of a river emptying into one of the Great Lakes. While Oscoda has a traditional pier/breakwater like this where the Au Sable River flows in Lake Huron, this one is more of what seems like it would be around the ocean. 

The two sunrises were very different. One with bright oranges as the sun came up over Lake Huron and the other on a more cloudy morning but with of the ice extending past the end of the pier. Both spectacular and peaceful in their own way.

The fun part of any sunrise is that they are unique in their own way. Next time we are in Oscoda for a sunrise we know that the experience will once agin be new and unique on that particular morning.
