Winter Adventures in Charlevoix

The snow has been falling in Michigan and winter is here in full effect. We set out to have a winter adventure in Charlevoix, Michigan. After some research, we had our plans set and we started out at Fisherman's Island State Park.

We geared up for winter weather and got on our fat bikes for some exploring and a destination set to get to the peninsula across from Fisherman's Island. The riding was amazing and we were able to ride along the beach, which was a ton of fun. We even found a Charlevoix Stone on the beach. This area is known for finding Charlevoix and Petoskey Stones, so if you are into that, this is your place! With great trails, beaches and room for adventure, Fisherman's Island State Park in winter is a spot to check out!

After our we were done at Fisherman's Island, we made our way to Bier's Inwood Brewery for a beer in their amazing outdoor area with firepits and seating areas inside of mini greenhouses. After a few stops downtown, we ended the evening in an igloo at Hotel Earl.

Upon a recommendation, we started day two by grabbing a coffee and a croissant from That French Place before heading out to Jordan Valley Outfitters to go winter rafting on the Jordan River. If you have never been winter rafting, add it to your list of must-do activities. The team at Jordan Valley Outfitters have a great set up with rafts and transportation to the river. Once on the river, the views were absolutely amazing and it was so peaceful with all of the fresh snow lining the river banks. We even made a stop for hot chocolate along the way in the woods to take in more of the views.

Once we were off the river, we headed back into Charlevoix for tacos from The Cantina at the lighthouse. We enjoy getting takeout and eating at iconic spots and the winter landscape at the lighthouse made for the perfect backdrop.

To finish the day, we experienced a winter tradition in Charlevoix, a candle lit hike at Mt. McSauba with Lake Michigan sunset views and a beach bonfire. Sometimes amazing winter sunsets are less common than other times of the year but this night did not disappoint!
